Shoes, Stepping Stones to Education

Help more children access education

Did you know that around 130 million girls worldwide have no access to education? In Uganda, if funds for school fees are limited, boys will be chosen over girls in a family.  The result of young girls remaining at home is they become housemaids, carers for young siblings, forced to marry, or worse subject to being trafficked.

YOU can help make a difference.

We currently partner with two schools in Uganda: Shalom Primary School in Kyotera, Rakai District, and Jubilee Care Nursery and Primary School in Kyebando, Kawempe District.

We are taking extra steps to tackle injustice by helping those with limited or no opportunity to get access to education in Uganda.

We have seen that owning a pair of shoes can change a child’s life.

We see education as a key to equality, opening the doorway to greater opportunity and freedom.

"We believe that every life has inherent worth. Those living in poverty are not victims but individuals with creativity, imagination and power to change their environment when given the opportunity."

Every child should have the right to education and to live with dignity and security.

For the past four years, we have been working directly with Shalom Primary School in Rakai District, Kyotera, Uganda close to the border with Tanzania.  Rakai is a remote and impoverished district which has been severely impacted by HIV/AIDS.

While we’ve started with shoes … we’ve helped build roofs for the school and staff accommodation, windows, doors and much more!
